Are you looking for a Counsellor who shares your Christian worldview‘’?

My Christian worldview informs my counselling. In other words, as a ‘Christian, I understand how your Christian faith underpins everything in your life and has a fundamental connection to your mental health.

If you are not a Christian or religious at all, your values still impact everything you do, think and feel. Your faith or beliefs are essential to who you are, no matter what they may be. (See FAQs below)

However, this is not “Biblical Counselling” or “Spiritual Counselling”. In other words, this counselling does not usually involve bible reading, prayer or evangelism. Bible verses are not often referred to in counselling. This is the role of a pastor or spiritual advisor and I can recommend some of these professionals to you if you need. If you wish prayer to be part of counselling, we can talk about it and work with your needs.

Robyn’s counselling is consistent with the Christian Counsellors Association Australia and the Psychotherapist and Counsellor Federation of Australia Ethical Standards, which include guidelines for counselling along religious lines.

  • Absolutely not. Mental Health Counselling is about you moving towards a life that lines up with your values.

  • Several codes of ethics apply to counselling. Regarding matters of faith, the CCAA code says

    Counsellors need to respect the religious convictions of clients and strive to understand their belief system. Bearing in mind the considerable influence counsellors have over clients, they need to avoid any imposition of their own faith, spirituality or religious practices.

    and also, with regards diversity,

    Counsellors (must) work with clients in ways that affirm both the common humanity and the uniqueness of each individual. Counsellors need to demonstrate empathy, respect and appreciation for the client’s diverse spiritual, religious or secular backgrounds and affiliations. description
